Everything You Need to Know About Air Quality

airborne-bacteria

Many homeowners simply don’t believe in the benefits of a system for increasing their indoor air quality in Plano, TX. They think that if they just wash their hands after a sneeze, then they’ll be just fine. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

Bacteria and viruses can make you sick from a variety of different places. The three most common ways to get sick are from physical contact, touching surfaces, and breathing in particles from the air. Well, unfortunately, we can’t do much about the first two points since those are all up to you. However, we can help with the last point on that list!

Bacteria and viruses can be kept out of your indoor air by use of an air purifier. The inner workings of these machines are incredibly complex, but after this blog post, maybe we can shine some light on what they do and the benefits that come from them.

The Most Common Airborne Bacteria and Viruses

Just to show you what’s at stake here when it comes to your indoor air quality, we’ve gone ahead and listed some of the particles that can be found in the air of your home on any given day.

  • Common Cold
  • Influenza (the Flu)
  • Chickenpox
  • Mumps
  • Measles
  • Whooping Cough
  • Mycobacterium Tuberculosis
  • Meningitis

Recognize any of these names? Granted you might already be vaccinated for some of the more dangerous of these illnesses, but these are still found existing within the air we breathe.

The Benefits of the Air Purification System

Well, you came here for the benefits of an air purifier, so we’re going to give them to you! Mainly, we’re going to give you a sneak peek into what these systems do and how they can directly keep you from contracting an illness.

  • HEPA Filters. HEPA filters are a groundbreaking, super thorough filter system that can be the first line of defense for your air purification system. These filters keep any particles above 0.3 microns in size from entering your home in the first place. Not only that, but many HEPA filters are infused with silver, which is a natural antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral agent for all the particles that are too small to get caught by the filter.
  • UV Light. Ultraviolet light is harmless to humans but can kill airborne bacteria and viruses by destroying the molecular bonds that hold their DNA together. This light can make sure that even if these particles enter your home, they’ll be dead and unable to make you sick. The light is also hidden away in your air vents so you never have to see it!

There are other types of air purifiers that use methods of sterilization, but these two are the most common methods. Don’t let your family be exposed to the flu or common cold any more than they have to be this winter. Why not keep these particles out and the fresh air in!
